Dual training programs
One of the more preferred training modalities for enterprise-based training in the modern Rwandan TVET system today is the dual training system. The modality combines theoretical and practical training as it learning takes place alternately in two venues: the school / training center and the company or workshop. The school and workplace share the responsibility of providing trainees with well-coordinated learning experiences and opportunities. This close cooperation between the school and the company ensures that the trainees are fully equipped with employable skills, work knowledge, and attitudes at the end of the training. EBS provides a linkage between training providers and training institutions. We sign Memorandum of understandings with RTB and various training centers and companies for efficient and effective execution of this service.
Financial Literacy and product marketing
EBS ensures that its partners and SMEs operators are equipped with the required set of knowledge, skills and attitudes that allow them to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources. We ensure that they understand the basic financial concepts that allows them to know how to navigate in the financial system. These competences help them make better financial decisions and manage money better. EBS designs financial literacy programs of: Basic book keeping, marketing and the 6 marketing steps, doing market research and business competitor analysis scenario, developing a marketing plan, conducting a practical business and finding customers using a tree metaphor, separating business and personal finances, saving goals and where to save, finding sources of finance. This package is followed by a post training support and accompaniment program where we link the entrepreneur to market linkages and micro finance institutions for affordable loans and soft loans management.
Cooperative management and Training
The Government of Rwanda recognizes the central role that cooperatives have to play in promoting inclusive, sustainable development and economic transformation. Cooperatives are a unique form of self-help group, pooling members’ resources to achieve economies of scope and scale.
Cooperatives have a great poverty reduction potential. By pooling resources together in and keeping strong links to their local environments, cooperative members stand to benefit significantly from joining a cooperative. EBS understands well the challenges that are being faced by cooperatives in Rwanda. These challenges include: limited information and awareness of existing policies, laws, regulations and internal rules, poor governance skills in cooperatives, financial mismanagement, due to non-transparent decision-making process, embezzlement, due to poor monitoring procedures, lack of financial reporting and weak internal communication system, threats, due to poor financial literacy and weak self-help of members, interest of conflict creates disconnects between leadership and the membership base.
To address these challenges, EBS designs the innovative programs that help address the challenges: these programs include: Effective Governance and Leadership, Implementation of the new Cooperative Law 2021, Internal Control and Audit, Business Planning and Access to Finance, Marketing of cooperative products, Business Model Cavas, Saving and saving Goals, and Effective communication.
Job readiness training
The high rate of unemployment in Rwanda among the graduates and out of school youth forced EBS to come up with an innovative youth employment program that equips youth with skills required to gain paid employment in various employment agencies (Government, nongovernment and private companies). The program is composed of Work Based Learning (WBL) activities that helps them gain work experience, Goal setting and making plans, School to Work transition package, Communication at the workplace, Leadership, appropriate workplace values and skills, workplace habits and conduct, Finding and keeping work and Rights and Responsibilities of employees and employers.
On the job training
On-the-job training is an important component of human resources. It helps develop the career of the individual and the prosperous growth of the organization. EBS conducts practical capacity building sessions for employees at the workplace. In this training, EBS ensures that employees get a hands-on experience using machinery, equipment, tools, materials, etc. We achieve this through a well-coordinated force between EBS and the host company through an experienced employee or a manager who execute the role of the mentor through practical demonstrations, practices, written instructions. EBS ensures that such mentorship programs are executed at the job location, rather than the classroom thereby creating a stress-free environment for the employees.
